AN MP is joining the fight against childhood obesity.

Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage attended a British Heart Foundation discussion in parliament about what can be done about the problem.

The charity wants youngsters to do more physical activity and is promoting simple traffic light labels to explain food content. It also wants companies to stop marketing junk food to children.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘Obesity in young people has a huge impact upon their health in later life.

‘I was surprised to learn that just an hour of physical activity each day can dramatically reduce the risk of obesity.’
