PEOPLE over 65 are being encouraged to take up the offer of a free flu jab.

Dr Jim Hogan, from Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group, is backing the NHS national flu campaign to get 75 per cent of all 65-year-olds vaccinated.

He said: ‘The best way for people most at risk from flu to protect themselves is to have the flu vaccination. Flu is a highly infectious disease.

‘The best way for those people who are most susceptible to flu can avoid getting it is by having the vaccination.’
