BUILDERS, workmen and members of the general public can get free advice on stopping smoking at a hardware store.

The Portsmouth branch of Jewson has teamed up with PompeyQuit – the city’s NHS stop smoking service – and Portsmouth Football Club legend Alan Knight.

Together, they will provide advice on giving up cigarettes and medication sessions to builders, workmen and the general public, called Jack it in with Jewson.

Alan, who quit smoking with PompeyQuit more than 15 months ago, said: ‘Quitting smoking improves health and wealth, it has made a real difference to me and I am pleased to be involved with the Jack it in with Jewson initiative.’

The sessions are being held at the Jewson’s store in Blackfriars Road, Somers Town, every Friday, from 9.30am to 11am.

Store manager Dean Allen said: ‘Our store customers are often self-employed or work for companies and may not find it easy to attend stop smoking sessions across the city.

‘These sessions will, therefore, mean they can access PompeyQuit support with minimum impact on their work time and without having to book appointments.’

For more information of these sessions, or get advice, contact PompeyQuit on (023) 9236 9234.
