Chief executive officer Ursula Ward said: ‘This is a rebirth for the charity.

‘What we are trying to do is raise funds for the hospital that will be for the patients’ benefit.’

At the event raffle tickets and cakes were sold and a band played. Fundraisers for the charity were also invited along to enjoy a reception.

One those was Natalie Roy, who said: ‘It is important for me to be here as my nan has had cancer twice and they’ve been fantastic.’
