A WALK-in centre in Portsmouth has been successful in picking up two awards.

St Mary’s Hospital walk-in centre, in Milton, beat competition from across the country to lift two trophies at the Care UK’s National Healthcare awards in London.

Mark Friend was named nurse of the year for his work at the centre while Adam Taylor’s medical and caring skills were recognised in the great care category.

Thousands of medical and administrative professionals from services nationwide were eligible to enter.

The team beat entries from GP surgeries, walk-in centres, 111 urgent care services and prison healthcare teams.

Hospital director Penny Daniels said: ‘I know I have a dedicated team of exceptional professionals but I am delighted their skill and commitment has been recognised at a national level.’
