PORTSMOUTH North MP Penny Mordaunt is urging young men in the city to sign up to be life-saving stem cell donors.

Ms Mordaunt wants to encourage men between the ages of 18 and 30 to join the Anthony Nolan stem cell register.

The charity helps saves lives every day by using the register to match donors to patients who desperately need transplants.

But there is a shortage of young male donors.

Ms Mordaunt, who plans to write to youth groups, colleges and other groups in the city to appeal for more donors, said: ‘I know many young people in Portsmouth will relish the chance to step forward and join the register.’

Portsmouth men who want to register can visit mp.anthonynolan.org and enter the code ZNB4.
