A SPECIALIST consultant from Queen Alexandra Hospital was honoured to receive a national award.

Professor Pradeep Bhandari, a consultant physician and gastroenterologist at QA, was given the gong by the President of Royal College of Physicians for his contribution to UK endoscopy.

Prof Bhandari was handed the Freeland Barbour medal at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh’s annual symposium on gastroenterology – a scheme run every three years.

Prof Bhandari was recognised for his work around endoscopy both in research and innovation.

He said: ‘I was surprised and delighted to be given the award.

‘It is a real honour.’
