ALL children attending two schools in Portsmouth will be vaccinated against Hepatitis A.

One child at Isambard Brunel Junior School in North End was diagnosed with the infection last month.

Public Health England (PHE) took the decision to vaccinate a group of Year 6 children. Now, all pupils and staff at the school and at neighbouring Meredith Infant School will be vaccinated.

Headteacher Iain Gilmour, said: ‘Both my headteacher colleague at Meredith Infants School and I are working closely with Public Health England.

‘As is usual practice we’re encouraging good hand washing both within school and at home as it is the most effective way to prevent the spread of infection. Parents have a good understanding of the low risk of transmission within the school environment and we thank them for their support.’
