A SURGEON has been sponsored thousands of pounds to take part in a walk for the Rocky Appeal.

Chief orthopaedic surgeon Magnus McLaren, from Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, was sponsored £5,000 by an anonymous donor to take part in the Southsea event.

The walk will be raising money to keep the surgical Da Vinci robot at the hospital where it is used for keyhole operations.

It is on May 7 and people can still sign up. It starts in Eastney at 10.30am and finishes at the Still & West pub in Old Portsmouth. Call (023) 9228 6487.
