PEOPLE cared for at Southern Health’s unit for adults have received national recognition for their work helping those with serious mental illness.

The Ravenswood Recovery Steering Group scooped the Outstanding Service User Achievement Award at this year’s awards ceremony.

The winning group, set up in 2005 at Ravenswood House near Fareham, deals with topics including hope, personal responsibility and education.

Alongside sessions planned in advance to cover a wide range of subjects like quitting smoking, members of the medium-secure unit regularly create a newsletter for service users.

The group has produced a series of posters, including a ‘top tips’ guide on how to get well and stay well, which has been displayed throughout Ravenswood House.

Representatives at the Recovery Steering Group have presented the poster at both national and international conferences, including in Canada.
