Hampshire residents are being encouraged to take up a new walking challenge.

Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, has established the Walk Challenge, which will take place from Monday until next Friday.

Councillor Patricia Stallard, Hampshire County Council’s executive member for health and public health, said: ‘The challenge is free, fun and can be accessed online. We are encouraging county council staff to take up the challenge, and I would love to see the county’s residents joining in too.

‘You can log your walks to see how they all add up to burn calories – not only will people feel themselves getting fitter but they will be helping to reduce CO2 omissions.’
