A BLACK tie ball has helped a hospice at home appeal get a step closer to its target.

The Rowans Hospice’s Havant support group held the fundraiser in aid of the Dorothy’s Dream appeal – which is trying to raise £1m to fund a service to support terminally-ill people to die in their own home.

The event, which took place at Rowlands Castle Golf Club and included a meal, live music, a raffle and auction, raised £3,602.

Lesley Woodcock, community fundraiser for the Rowans, said: ‘The Havant support group has done incredibly well raising so much money for Dorothy’s Dream. With the appeal now standing at more than £702,000, the dream is becoming a reality.’
