Places are still available to book onto a counselling course on loss and bereavement.

The Rowans Hospice bereavement and psychology team will be running a course from March 8, 2016.

It is designed for those who have an interest in working with bereaved people in a professional or voluntary capacity and takes place at the hospice in Purbrook.

The course will cover bereavement theory, an introduction to counselling skills and integrating theory into practice. The course will be run on Tuesdays throughout March, April and May, include a day working with children on Friday, May 6 and see a final morning session on June 7.

There are no formal assessments, but there will be role-play opportunities and participants are encouraged to maintain a reflective learning journal.

The course costs £450, which includes all study materials, study days and refreshments including lunch, tea and coffee. Bursaries may be available to those who wish to become hospice bereavement volunteers.

All applicants will be interviewed to ensure suitability for the course but no prior experience or formal qualifications are required.
