BE A lifesaver and donate blood.

The NHS Blood and Transplant service is urging people to come forward and become blood donors.

Donations are used during operations and transfusions if major blood loss is suffered.

Here is the list of the latest sessions taking place in the Portsmouth area at the following places and times:

n Monday, February 6, Stamshaw and Tipner Leisure Centre, Wilson Road, Stamshaw, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

n Tuesday, February 7, St Swithun’s Church, Waverley Road, Southsea, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

n Thursday, February 9, Crofton Community Centre, Stubbington Lane, Stubbington, from 1.30pm to 5.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

People can give blood every 16 weeks.

NHS guidelines say if you are generally in good health, aged 17 to 65 and weigh at least seven stone, then you should be eligible to donate blood.
