DRESSING up in her glad rags, Sharon Logan was looking forward to her husband’s military ball.

But for 44-year-old Sharon there was horror when the photos of her at the formal event came back and she looked so fat it left her horrified.

She immediately joined Slimming World and started dieting. Those photos of her with her Warrant Officer husband Edward on Thorney Island spurred her on to lose five stone in less than a year.

Sharon, a mum-of-three from Emsworth, is now a slender 10st 4lb and has even completed the Great South Run.

She said: ‘I have been big my whole adult life but on this occasion the pictures shocked me.

‘I knew I’d gained weight after having my third child but seeing these photo’s really upset me, it wasn’t a women I recognised or wanted to see any longer.’

Sharon said there were times when she was at her biggest when she did not have the confidence to go out and could not find any outfits to fit her.

She would make excuses not to go to events with her husband.

‘I started skipping breakfast and lunch and then binge eating when I got home from work,’ said Sharon, an assistant management accountant with the NHS.

‘I would eat a lot in the evenings and sometimes secretly eat, this led to some unhappiness, low self esteem and health issues including high blood pressure, gastric reflux and IBS.’

Sharon’s husband had never been negative about her size but he saw she was upset and told her about a friend who had lost weight on Slimming World.

She was determined to do something about it and joined Slimming World. By eating pasta, potatoes, lean meat and lots of fruit and vegetable she shifted the weight and is now a slim size 10.

‘The lifestyle I have learnt is now a way of life and I don’t intend to go back to old habits, said Sharon.

‘I am now a comfortable size 10 and finally quite enjoy photographs of myself. After increasing my activity gradually along the way,

‘I have taken up running and recently completed the Bupa Great South run, something I could never have done when I was obese.’

She has now taken over the Slimming World group in Emsworth to inspire other people to lose weight and live a happier, healthier life.
