REBRANDED and revitalised – this salon will be striving for victory at The News’ annual Hair and Beauty awards.

Suave Hair & Beauty Bar, previously known as Techniques, has received a fresh lease of life after being taken over by two sisters.

Chloe Halford, 19, and her sister Carrie Halford, 20, took over the business in Highland Road, Southsea, and reopened its doors at the end of March.

Now they are setting their sights on taking a top accolade from the prestigious hair and beauty awards when they return this summer.

Carrie, from Southampton, said they have been researching the event, which culminates in a ceremony on July 4.

She said the whole team are on board and they are hoping to stand out in a field which they are all passionate about.

Carrie said: ‘We’ll be having a group team meeting, getting creative with mood boards and really keeping up with what’s on trend at the moment. It’s about trying our hardest and just demonstrating our own personal flair within the profession.’

The sibling entrepreneurs have been getting straight down to business since their launch in order to market themselves as more than just a hair salon.

They now offer a range of beauty treatments including facials, holistic therapies, hot stone massages and nail care.

Carrie said rebranding was key, especially to stand amongst competitors applying for the annual awards.

She said: ‘The place had a bit of a bad name before so we are just trying to promote ourselves.

‘We’re both young and want to attract that student client base as well as other ages.’

The sisters held a party to mark the reopening of the salon and had champagne and cake to celebrate.

Carrie said she was delighted to see so many people turn up at the opening and that she has been buoyed by the support of the community.

She praised the team, who have been working hard since the launch to give top customer service and grow client numbers.

She added: ‘The team here are a talented bunch of stylists and beauticians so for that to get recognised would be great.’

There are 13 categories in The News’ Hair and Beauty awards – from trainees to lifetime achievement. Entries must be received by Friday, May 8.

A panel of expert judges and industry professionals will assess the entries and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday, July 4, at the Portsmouth Guildhall.

This year, all categories must be entered by the salon or stylist themselves. To get an application form send an e-mail to hairand beautyawards@thenews.co.uk
