STAFF and students from an infant school dressed in red and as characters from the Wizard of Oz to mark Ruby Slipper Day.

Children at Stamshaw Infant School in North End Avenue, North End, celebrated the day with an assembly telling the children about the Rowan’s Hospice and they learnt the words to Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

They also laid out pennies on a yellow brick road.

Anne Fancey, teacher, said: ‘At the school we are a family and we got a special request from a teacher who wanted to support the Rowan’s Hospice.

‘The children have enjoyed dressing up and learning about the day.’
