A QUIT smoking referral system has been reintroduced at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Patients in some wards and departments at the Cosham hospital will be asked if they smoke and see they want help to stop.

If they want to quit, then people will be offered a referral to their local NHS stop smoking service to discuss support and nicotine replacement therapy options.

Amanda McKenzie, project co-ordinator, said: ‘So far the system has had an amazing response compared with last year.

‘Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for your health.

‘The benefits of quitting can be seen within minutes.’
