IT PROVED to be a winning night for this GP practice at last year’s health awards.
Staff at Brockhurst Medical Centre in Gosport were elated when they picked up the top prize in the GP Practice of the Year category.
And now the team is backing this year’s event and is encouraging people to nominate their health heroes.
Sally Crooks, practice manager, said: ‘To win the award was an absolute morale-booster and couldn’t have come at a better time for us.
‘At one point we were concerned the practice could close because we couldn’t find GPs to work here.
‘We totally weren’t expecting to win the award but it was great to do so.
‘It’s just so nice for patients to show their appreciation of health services, and nominating is a good way to do it.’
This year The News has teamed up with the Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group, which is the overall sponsor for this year’s awards.
There is a change with our categories as we have two new ones to introduce.
We have the Allied Health Professional Worker/Team of the Year, which includes professions such as ambulance workers, podiatrists, radiotherapists and occupational therapists.
And the Portsmouth CCG will hand out a Compassion and Care award, where a winner will be selected from those crowned the night.
People can put forward their health heroes by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline to get entries in is Friday, July 3.
After that a panel of judges will consider entries and pick winners and runners-up.
A full nomination list will feature in The News.
The awards night takes place once again at the Guildhall in Portsmouth on Friday, October 9.
Details on how to buy tickets for the black-tie event will be given closer to the time of the glamorous awards evening.
