A HEALTH trust has issued simple steps to ensure people make sure they stay well by keeping warm this winter.
Simple steps have been given by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust to help keep the cold out.
Homes that aren’t warm can make people with chronic conditions even more vulnerable.
The following tips have been issued:
n To keep bills down, it is advised to keep heating at 21 degrees celicus in the day, and 18 at the night.
n Check your heating is working well.
n Draw curtains in the evening and keep doors closed to block out draughts.
n Wear several light layers of warm clothing, rather than one chunky layer.
n Have regular hot drinks and eat at least one hot meal a day if possible – eating regularly helps keep energy levels up during winter.
n Keep as active in your home as possible.
n Keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours and friends.
