SERVICES in Portsmouth have been held up as a model by medical experts who are calling for better treatment of liver disease.

In a report published today in medical journal The Lancet, urgent action is urged for over the number of people dying from liver disease.

Cases have gone up 500 per cent since the 1970s.

Earlier intervention by GPs is being called for and experts say the services on offer in Portsmouth should be followed across the UK.
