LIVE music and a speed auction event is taking place to raise money for a robotic piece of equipment.

Peter Young, 68, of Hamler Avenue, Paulsgrove, was diagnosed with cancer of the bladder three years ago.

He believes the Da Vinci robot – surgical kit available at Queen Alexandra Hospital – will benefit him and other patients similar to him.

That is why the Ukes of Wallington, a group Mr Young is a part of, will be playing live music to raise money for the Rocky Appeal, in order to keep the robot at QA.

A payment of £500,000 has been made, but a further £1.6m needs to be raised to ensure it stays.

Mr Young will be performing at a festival, which takes place this Saturday in Stockheath Common, in Leigh Park.

The group will perform twice at – 12.15pm and 2.15pm.

A speed auction will also take place to help boost funds for the appeal.
