IF A local hospice had one wish, it would be to make sure it always had funding to continue providing a vital service to the community.

That wish has been helped a little, thanks to a gesture from the Rotary Club of Fareham.

President Pamela Bryant has chosen to support The Rowans Hospice by donating proceeds from the wishing well in Fareham Shopping Centre.

Mrs Bryant’s term of office finishes on July 1, so any coins dropped into the wishing well before then will be given directly to Purbrook hospice.

The charity helps and supports people with life-threatening illnesses and their families in the south east Hampshire area.

Ian Young, honorary chairman of the hospice, pictured left, said: ‘We are incredibly grateful to Mrs Bryant and The Rotary Club of Fareham for choosing to support The Rowans Hospice.

‘Every penny really does make a difference in helping people to live
well.’
