THOUSANDS of vulnerable people across Hampshire will benefit from parcels to help keep them safe this winter.

Hampshire County Council’s Hitting the Cold Spots scheme will provide packages containing items to help people keep warm in the winter.

It includes a thermometer, hints on staying warm, an application form for insulation, draught excluders and access to community meals.

And advisors will also be providing free loft and cavity wall insulation for around 2,000 homes in the county.

The council received a slice of £20m government funding to carry out the project.

The scheme, which is costing £319,700, will help around 30,000 vulnerable people in the county.
