A TURF cutting ceremony took place to mark the start of construction of a cancer unit which will benefit young patients in Portsmouth

As previously reported, the Teenage Cancer Trust is set to open a centre to support young people from the area suffering from the condition.

The £2.4m centre will be built in Southampton General Hospital, and will be available to young people in Hampshire.

The 10-bedded building with also have facilities such as a kitchen, and will be available for cancer patients aged 16 to 24.

A further £400,000 needs to be raised.
