Portsmouth residents are reminded that the walk-in centre in Guildhall Walk will be open over the August bank holiday.

The centre is open 365 days a year to deal with minor injuries, meaning patients do not need to go to A&E.

Care UK’s director of primary care, Dr Marjorie Gillespie has urged residents to use the centre for appropriate advice and treatment rather than put added pressure on the local hospitals.

Dr Gillespie said: ‘Our centre can help with a wide number of minor injuries and illnesses such as minor throat and chest infections, stomach complaints and ear infections.

‘The wait at our walk-in centre is very likely to be considerably less than at A&E and you will be seen by fully qualified nurses and doctors.

‘Bank holidays always put added pressure on local NHS services so it really helps everybody if patients choose the most appropriate course of treatment.’

The Guildhall Walk Healthcare Centre is open daily from 8am to 8pm.
