HISTORY will be brought to life at a fundraising lunch for the mayor of Fareham’s charities.

Tim Lowe, the former actor-in-residence at Fort Nelson, will be the after-lunch guest when he brings to life the story of Happy Jack and his role in the creation of Fort Nelson and the other Portsdown Forts in the 19th century.

The mayor of Fareham, councillor Trevor Cartwright said: ‘The lunch will be a traditional Sunday roast beef dinner, and a dessert.

‘This will be a lovely afternoon and will help raise money towards three very worthy charities.’

The mayor’s nominated charities for the year have been the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Toe in the Water, which aims to inspire armed forces personnel who have suffered traumatic injuries through sailing, and Warsash Wasps SFC, who are in the mayor’s home ward.

Tickets cost £10 each, and are available from the mayor by calling (01489) 578519 or by emailing tcartwright@fareham.gov.uk.

Attendees are asked to arrive at the Parish Hall in Castle Street, Portchester at noon for a 12.30pm start on Sunday, February 26.

And as the venue does not have a licence, guests can bring their own drink. People are asked to dress smart/casual.

The fundraising year will reach its climax with the Mayor’s Charity Ball at Ferneham Hall, Fareham on April 20.
