GENEROUS shoppers helped raise more than £2,000 to help enthusiast Mike Westaway on his epic car rally.

Mike Westaway, 65, spent two days at the Tesco store in Havant raising funds for Rally For Heroes.

The fundraiser is a 3,000 mile journey across Europe over seven days.

Mr Westway and his son Matthew will be driving a TVR and will be one of 50 teams taking part in August.

They are self-funding the trip, but collectively are hoping to raise £100,000 for Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion.

As a mark of respect, Mr Westaway, from Waterlooville, created a memorial garden outside Tesco, with 419 flags to represent the fallen in Afghanistan.
