HIDING out with grandpa has been the highlight of one boy’s school break.

Cameron Bent, 10, from Bishop’s Waltham, took to the hide at Titchfield Haven Natural Reserve with Ian Cox, from Wickham, to spot birds.

Cameron said; ‘It was fun and quite interesting as I learned all about the birds.

‘My grandpa helps me spot them. We go birdwatching a lot and he knows all the birds.’

Mr Cox is a volunteer at the nature reserve and often visits the hides.

He said that the rarest bird he has seen from there has been a bittern, although he often spots marsh harriers too.

He said: ‘It’s a very peaceful place and it’s very good for birdwatching.

‘Cameron loves it here, he always asks to go back.’

Entrance to the reserve costs £3.90 adults, £1.95 children.
