THE owners of a boutique country resort hope to win a national award after cleaning up in a regional competition.

Wallops Wood cottages in Droxford, north of Portsmouth, won gold in an ‘access for all tourism’ category and silver in a ‘self catering provider of the year’ category at Tourism South East’s‎Beautiful South Awards.

Owners Andrew and Katherine Graham are now hoping for success in the Visit England awards.

Mr Graham said he was thrilled with the achievements of the business, which opened 18 months ago.

He said: ‘We are delighted to have received these awards after only 18 months.

‘It has been hard work. If Katherine and I are honest probably much harder than we’d anticipated, but our success has surpassed our reasonable expectations, and bookings are already looking good for 2016.’

The business has five luxury self-catering cottages in the South Downs National Park, which each sleep six to eight people.
