VISITORS have been discovering more about life behind the scenes of an historic theatre in Southsea.

Staff at the King’s Theatre, in Albert Road, are giving people free guided tours around the premises as part of a four-day city-wide scheme called Heritage Open Days.

And the theatre’s in-house historian Sean Bowman has been talking to people about the origin of the building, which opened in 1907. Tours are also taking place at the New Theatre Royal and Portsmouth Guildhall.

The scheme finishes on Sunday.

Jo Bennington, of The King’s Theatre, said: ‘It’s been a great opportunity for people to see how much work goes into running an historic venue.’
