OLDER people in the Horndean area are set to be given a helping hand.

Horndean Community Association is setting up a forum of active and dedicated people who will take forward the needs of older people in the parish, which includes Horndean, Catherington, Blendworth and Lovedean.

The Hope Forum – which stands for Horndean Older People’s Enabling – will look to identify the needs of the residents of the parish of Horndean and take actions to meet them.

A meeting takes place on Monday, June 11 at Merchistoun Hall in Horndean from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

It will be hosted by John Palmer, a long-time supporter of the community who helped to run Horndean Independent Youth Association, which has benefited hundreds of young people by providing activities.

The meeting will aim to find out about the needs, wishes and problems of older people in the Horndean area.

For more information on the scheme call Brendan Charles at Merchistoun Hall on (023) 9259 7114.
