HISTORIC tiles from Havant’s old War Memorial Hospital were officially unveiled yesterday.
Ten nursery rhyme panels have been carefully restored and two of the panels are now on display at The Spring, in East Street, Havant. An exhibition is planned in September for the whole collection.
Ann Griffiths, a museum volunteer, said: ‘It’s terrific. ‘It’s a real coup for Havant. A lot of work has gone into getting them here.
‘They had to go up to Shropshire to be restored. It took four months and they have been beautifully done.’
Councillor Elaine Shimbart, The Mayoress of Havant, said: ‘They are in beautiful, pristine condition. I hope they can be kept in the area – they deserve to be.’
