HUNDREDS of people are expected to march from the Spinnaker Tower on Friday November 23 in a bid to end domestic and sexual violence in our communities.
Portsmouth’s third Reclaim the Night march will take place from 7pm and has been organised in partnership with Aurora New Dawn and Portsmouth White Ribbon.
They will march from the tower to Guildhall Square for a rally.
Local drumming group Batala will lead the march before a rally in the square with musicians El Morgan and Steph Arburrow.
Kirsty Mellor, from Portsmouth White Ribbon, said: ‘We want lots of people, lots of families, and lots of individuals and groups to come along and make some noise and we’re asking people to wear something white or purple to show solidarity with victims of violence.’
Leader of Portsmouth City Council, Cllr Gerald Vernon Jackson, said, ‘I wish the march well. Domestic violence causes untold harm to families and can lead to the most serious crimes.
‘Everyone has a duty to make sure that families are not blighted by aggression and violence.’
