ALMA Hadley led the way on a charity walk inspired by her husband, a former naval officer.
The 68-year-old, of Lee-on-the-Solent, urged others to join her on the 10-mile walk from West Meon to Wickham in aid of Help For Heroes.
Her husband Lloyd Hadley, a retired Lieutenant Commander in the navy, died in November 2009, aged 92.
Son Fred Bowman, 40, said: ‘This was something mum wanted to do in his memory, but also for all those brave young men and women who are doing what they have to do in the armed forces.
‘As a family we’re keen on doing things for charity and mum wants to do this on a regular basis. She’s already looking at another walk at Christmas and one for next year.’
The walk’s participants have collected £1,700 so far, with more to come.
