PICKING up an iron is a boring necessity for most people.

But visitors to the Juniper Court care home in Cunningham Drive, Gosport, enjoyed getting their hands on a display of antique irons this week.

Different types of irons on display were chosen by the people who live at the home.

They then shared their memories of the antique items with visitors.

Donna Simpson, a community development worker at Gosport Borough Council, said: ‘They really enjoyed it and they really enjoyed putting the showcase together.

‘After the first workshop we did we asked residents what they wanted to do and they decided they would quite like to see a showcase about irons.

‘The idea is to encourage discussion among the residents.’

The irons were brought over from the SEARCH Museum, in Gosport’s town centre.

For their next showcase, the people living at Juniper Court have chosen to look at mystery objects.
