It could be your time to shine

YOUNG people interested in performing arts can get involved with a new society that teaches dance.

Shine Time, a musical theatre group, opened in Portsmouth last August.

It opened with the High School Musical summer school.

The week-long event focused on the dances, songs and scenes from the popular Disney film.

It concluded with a performance of what students had learnt and practised to friends and family.

Shine Time gives children aged five to 16 years old the opportunity to work with professional actors and performance teachers in acting, dance and singing.

This year its weekly musical theatre club will focus on the theme of TV series Glee.

The Glee Club runs every Monday at The John Pounds Centre, in Queens Street, Portsea, from 4.30pm to 6pm.

Classes are designed to increase people's confidence and encourage them to perform.

Each term focuses on a musical or theme and concludes in an end-of-term performance.
