These two ladies took on the Race for Life in honour of friends and family who have suffered from cancer.

Alison Strudwick, 46, and friend Lorna Richard, 39, both from Petersfield, took on the 10k route through Southsea.

Alison ran in memory of friend Denise Bird.

She said: ‘I didn’t know her that long but it does make us all think, because we are that age. The race was good. It was too hot, we’re not used to it because we trained in the rain. This is the best atmosphere of the races I have done.’

Lorna added: ‘We have got a lot of family who have been affected by cancer. Some have died and some are still fighting. It’s really important to raise awareness and to hope that the research can carry on so we can find a cure.

‘I loved it, it was great to be here. And this was my best time.’
