A COUNCIL boss raised more than £5,000 for charity and is gearing up to run the London Marathon tomorrow.

Chief executive of Fareham Borough Council Peter Grimwood is running to raise money for the Rainbow Centre in Fareham.

The charity, which helps transform the lives of severely disabled children and adults, is under threat of closure.

The money Mr Grimwood raises will help the adult section of the charity which offers a range of specialised services.

He said: ‘It’s hard to believe it’s so close – there’s no backing out now.

‘I ran 22 miles last weekend so I’m pretty happy. I want to thank everyone who has supported me. Now it’s just a case of getting over that finish line in one piece.’
