FOR anyone who has wanted to drink the best wine in the world but has been worried about the cost, there is good news.
Wine experts at the Decanter World Wine Awards have decided it comes from... Asda.
And, even better, it’s just £4.37 a bottle.
Asda’s La Moneda Reserva Malbec from Chile beat took the best in show title at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards.
After blind taste tests of 16,000 reds and whites from across the globe, a panel of 240 international wine experts judged Asda’s low-cost Malbec to be the ‘ultimate crowd pleaser’.
It was described as tasting of ‘freshly crushed black fruit, creamy vanilla yoghurt and pepper spice,’ and won praise for its ‘succulent juicy berries on the palate’.
Asda has a supermarket in Havant, which is expected to have been doing a brisk trade in the wine.
