TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who was a member of the Girl Guides for 75 years.

Jean Wiltshire, who was born in 1932, has died after being part of the Guides since she was seven years old.

Brownie Guider Jackie Wyatt said Mrs Wiltshire, pictured, who lived in Portsmouth, was a dedicated member of the Guides and Brownies who always encouraged girls to do their best.

Mrs Wyatt said: ‘She devoted her time and energy to helping others, and truly was a guiding light for youngsters and adults alike.

‘Jean always took an interest in what the girls were doing and was a great help to me when I was researching the history of the pack, as she was our longest serving “brown owl”.

‘Jean, with all her memories of Guiding, will be sadly missed and our thoughts and condolences go to her family.’
