AFTER losing her mum to cancer, Jenna Hiscock was inspired to do something great for charity.
So the 29-year-old planned for a family fun day with a twist.
Along with the usual stalls, games and food, Jenna has organised a Zumba-thon, which will see visitors dancing for two and a half hours.
The day takes place on October 6 and will be raising money for Stand Up To Cancer.
The charity does research into the illness and uses the entertainment industry to boost awareness.
Jenna, who lives in Cowplain, said: ‘This is the first charity event I have ever done but I am looking forward to it.
‘It’s important to me because the charity means a lot to my whole family. I lost my mum to lung cancer last November and we have other family members who have died from the illness. We have a member who is still battling it.
‘So it was a no-brainer when it came to picking the charity.
‘I even did Race For Life this year because I know how important all the money that goes into treatment and research is.
‘The day is for a great course so I’m doing a lot of planning so we can raise as much as possible.’
The event is at A & J Lawrence, Kinard Centre, North Harbour Road, Cosham.
It runs from 10am to 3pm with the Zumba-thon starting at 4pm.
For those who can endure it, this will end at 6.30pm.
Jenna added: ‘I wanted to do a fun day but with a difference.
‘We have a DJ, kids’ games, face painting, a raffle, a range of different stalls and tombola but the Zumba-thon makes it stand out.
‘Anyone can sign up and those who do it before the day get a sponsorship form and a T-shirt.
‘But people can also just join in on the day.’
