YOUNG fundraiser Jessica Ruff is going for the chop.
In a bid to raise money for charity, the 12-year-old of Forton Road, Gosport, will have more than 12in lobbed off her long flowing hair, which currently reaches below her waist.
She will donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust – a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer.
And she’s also collecting sponsorship which will be split between the Rowans Hospice and Naomi House.
Mum Tina, 50, said: ‘Jessica has seen two family friends die from cancer and they both affected her quite a lot.
‘She wanted to do something in their memory that would help children with the illness and thought this would be the perfect way to do it.
‘I was surprised when she said she wanted to do something like this, but I think it’s lovely.’
Jessica will have the haircut at a summer fete at St Thomas’ Church, Gosport, on May 26 at 12.30pm.
There will also be a host of stalls at the event, including arts and crafts, books, breaking glass, a tombola, a raffle and a food stand. Games and activities will be held for families to take part in.
Funds raised from the event will go towards the church. It is open from 10am to 2pm and entrance is free.
