THE hair may not be the right colour, but this portrait of a little girl’s mum is nonetheless perfect.

Talented four-year-old Jessica Dixon is the lucky winner of The News’s Mothers’ Day ‘Draw Your Mum’ competition.

The Havant youngster’s charming portrait of her mum, Lucy Barnes, was picked from more than 280 entries.

Lucy said she and her daughter were both thrilled she won the competition.

She said: ‘It’s a lovely picture.

‘I don’t know where she got the blonde hair from because I’ve got brown hair but she’s done really well. I’ve already cut it out and stuck it on the fridge.’

She said Jessica was glowing with pride at her winning drawing.

Jessica said: ‘It’s mummy. She has yellow hair because it’s getting lighter and red clothes.’

Lucy said Jessica’s grandmother entered her drawing in the competition.

She said: ‘My mum actually got her
to do it and took it down to the post office.’

Jessica has won a £25 gift card from Smyths Toys Superstore in Fareham and Lucy will be treated to a makeover.

The beauty treatment will include a brow shape, brow tint, strip lashes and a shellac nail treatment done at Arch Angelz in Debenhams, Southsea.

Lucy said Jessica would love a visit to the toy shop, and she was thrilled her daughter’s drawing meant a day of indulgence for herself.

She said: ‘I’m looking forward to it. I can’t wait.’

Jessica goes to preschool and also has something to look forward to – her first day of school in September.

Lucy said Jessica would no doubt give the pencils at the school a good workout.
