JIM Lines was devastated when he lost his friend Camilla Dickens in April.

Today, he is starting a 150-mile walk in her memory.

The 34-year-old was close friends with Cammi, from Denmead, who died at just 25 after battling cancer.

They had been in a band together that signed a record contract.

At the time, Jim had moved to Putney in south-west London, and to mark that, he will walk there and back from his home in Southsea.

Jim, from Waverley Grove, said: ‘Cammi was a remarkable young woman. All the time I knew her, she was a very upbeat, positive person, showing an interest in other’s welfare.

‘Throughout her illness, she maintained that level of interest in others. Inside she must have been so scared but she managed to remain incredibly upbeat.’

Jim will be raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

He added: ‘I have done lots of training. I feel fit enough to do it.

‘I was feeling great until I saw the weather forecast but that adds to the challenge. At the end of it I will feel like I have achieved more because I will have battled the elements to get there and back.’
