DETERMINED John Dennis is back in training for an expedition to Antarctica through which he hopes to raise £50,000 for charity by skiing solo to the South Pole.

The father-of-two, from Bishop’s Waltham, was meant to embark on the trip last year but had to postpone it due to problems with funding.

Now the 40-year-old, pictured, is back on track and will set off for Norway on January 30 for training on how to deal with the cold and about safety on ice.

He will return to Norway in March for further training and he hopes to leave in November and arrive at the South Pole in January.

Mr Dennis, who has battled depression, will be raising money and awareness for mental health charities.

His expedition is called Dare 2 Express and he still needs volunteers and donations. For more go to expedition-d2e.org.
