Join us tomorrow for our annual carol service in Fratton

FAMILIES and friends are invited to celebrate the start of the festive season with a service tomorrow.

The News’ annual Carol Service is takes place at St Mary’s Church, in Fratton.

Every year, hundreds of people pack the church, off Fratton Road, to sing along to carols and listen to readings.

Choirs from city schools will be performing with Newbridge Juniors, Penhale Infants, Manor Infants and Arundel Court primary schools welcomed this year.

They will also be singing alongside the church choir for a unique performance.

Anne Hegerty, from ITV’s The Chase, will be giving a reading during the service.

Families can also see her in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Kings Theatre between December 6 and January 1.

Christingles will also be handed out.

Editor of The News Mark Waldron said the service is a great way for families to celebrate Christmas.

‘With lots of singing and lovely readings, the service has something for all the family,’ he said.

‘It is a great opportunity for families and friends to gather and start their Christmas celebrations.’

The service, which was organised with the Southern Co-operative, starts at 3pm.
