A PROLIFIC fundraiser has handed more than £1,400 for a girl suffering from cerebral palsy.

Alicia Pannell, eight, from Parker Close in Gosport, desperately needs a new specialist chair as she has outgrown her old one.

Her family have so far raised £6,000 of the £10,000 needed for the chair and for an outbuilding to store her equipment.

Julie Scarborough, 76, from The Crest in Widley, held a fundraising day at her home in honour of Alicia.

Julie said: ‘They are the nicest family I have ever met. They are all such lovely people. I was very pleased that we raised that money for Alicia. If anyone deserves it, she does.’

Mum Sharon Pannell, 37, said: ‘It’s amazing really. For someone her age and what she does to help people, we are just speechless. We are just overwhelmed.’
