READY, aim and go! Conkers players of all aged slogged it out at an annual competition.

The event was held at Holly Hill Woodland Park in Barnes Lane, on Sarisbury Green, and drew large crowds all wanting to take the title.

More than 60 people, aged four up to 80 took part in the contest to see who had the best skills.

David Redwood, who helped organise the event, said they get better every year.

He said: ‘When we started 10 years ago, it was to give the kids the chance to play conkers as many schools had banned them.

‘And it was a great competition as it always is with the younger ones coming out on top.

‘We had a good crowd here and it got quite competitive with all the contenders wanting to win the prize.

‘But, we just want it to be a fun day out and I think that’s why it has been going for 10 years.

‘Everyone has fun.’
