ENGINEERS worked through the night to fix a gas leak and re-open a road.

As reported yesterday, Broom Way, in Lee-on-the-Solent, was closed in both directions after the leak.

Southern Gas Network’s engineers completed the work in the early hours of this morning.

The road was re-opened at 5.30am.

It had been shut in both directions between Peel Common Roundabout and Cherque Lane.

The closure started at around 2.50pm yesterday.

One of the gas mains had been damaged by a third party.

SGN did not have the details of the third party when asked by The News.
